Actifade Review

Updated On:

Overview

Actifade is a skin lightening cream that is claimed by its manufacturers to target, cover, and gradually fade dark discolorations of the skin such as age spots, freckles and liver spots. There are a number of products sold within the Actifade Range.

Product Details

There are a number of products sold within the Actifade range including the Radiant Youth Complex and the Opulent Youth Complex. The Opulent Youth line consists of the Actifade cream with a concealer, and is priced on the official Actifade website at $69.95. The Radiant Youth Complex consists of the Actifade cream, a concealer and supplement tablets named Epizene, and this is priced at $99.95. The manufacturers state that the supplement known as Epizene will nourish the epidermis layer of your skin. The ingredients in Epizene include Vitamin C, Calcium, Silica and Trace minerals. The ingredients in the Actifade cream itself are listed on the official website, but the ingredient list is reproduced in such a difficult to read format that you will need to use a magnifying glass to be able to understand it.

Actifade does however include the ingredient Glycolic Acid, about which there have been a number of safety concerns. The results of trials by the Food and Drug Administration showed the Glycolic acid does increase sensitivity to UV radiation. If you are using Actifade therefore you should make sure that your face is extremely well covered from the sunlight. Using the product with a high-strength sunscreen is also a good idea. Reactions to Glycolic acid are usually dryness and red irritation.

The Good

  • There is an official Actifade website.
  • There is a money back guarantee
  • There are positive testimonials for this product.

The Bad

  • This product does not come with a free trial sample.
  • One of the ingredients in Actifade is Glycolic acid. There have been a number of safety concerns regarding Glycolic acid.
  • The ingredient list on the website is almost impossible to decipher.
  • Difficult to find clinical research and development data on this product line.
  • Fundamentally, this product is a skin lightener, not a wrinkle fighter.

The Bottom Line

According to testimonials that we found on third-party review sites, this product does seem to do what the manufacturer says it will do. Still, we would like to see more information about the clinical trials In 2000 the Food and Drug Administration carried out trials on Glycolic acid and found that using products containing this substance does increase sensitivity to UV radiation by almost 20%. You certainly should not use this product on your face or any part of your body that will be exposed to sunlight without proper protection. Actifade looks like it could be an effective method for reducing age spots and other troubling skin discoloration. However, potential buyers looking for a more comprehensive wrinkle fighting solution will probably want to search elsewhere.
