Overview
The Age Intervention skin care line by Jan Marini includes a number of products specifically designed for women over the age of 25 who have seen visible results of aging on their skin. The line claims to target the aging process from two sources; first, the fluctuation in hormones that contribute to skin's dryness and lack of collagen and second, the damage caused by the sun that allows free radicals to speed up the aging process on our skin.
The Age Intervention line includes products for the skin, hands, eyes and hair. We are pleased to see that Jan Marini has a professional website; however, we are disappointed to find that the website does not offer the products for sale directly. There did not appear to be any distributors of the Jan Marini Age Intervention line in the United States, but we were able to find the products for sale through online retailers. The company website provides customer testimonials for the products, but a money back guarantee policy did not appear to be available through Jan Marini.
Product Details
For the purpose of this review, we will take a closer look at the Age Intervention Peptide Extreme. This formula will supposedly rejuvenate the skin, promote collagen and elastin production, hydrate the skin and decrease the appearance of redness with anti-inflammatory properties. The product is rather expensive, selling for $89 for a one-ounce container at the time of this review. Unfortunately, the company website does not provide ingredient lists for their products, leaving the consumer to wonder exactly how the formulas would deliver on their promises.
We did find ingredients lists on retail websites for this product, and were pleased to see that this product appears to include the patented anti-wrinkle agent matrixyl. However, matrixyl is generally most effective when it is combined with soluble collagen. Unfortunately, we did not see collagen on the ingredient list. The formula also includes sodium hyaluronate, which is an effective skin hydrator that can smooth the skin's surface and reduce the appearance of fine lines. However, other proven anti-aging ingredients like argireline will maximize the effectiveness of sodium hyaluronate, and this substance is also absent from the list.
The Good
- The Age Intervention line is targeted to women with anti-aging needs.
- The company website provides customer testimonials for the products.
The Bad
- Complete ingredient lists were not included on the company website.
- There does not appear to be a money back guarantee for purchases.
- Important anti-aging ingredients like argireline and soluble collagen were missing from the list.
- The products are expensive.
The Bottom Line
While we appreciate that the Jan Marini Age Intervention skin care line is designed specifically for anti-aging needs, we are not convinced that these formulas provide the best results for the money. Consumers may be able to find more potent formulas for a better price elsewhere.
