Overview
Agera is a global skin care company that provides a variety of lines to address the needs of consumers dealing with acne or the effects of aging. Agera offers two different types of skin care; a medical line that is used by doctors in their offices and a spa/salon line designed for use in spa treatments and the home. Product lines include cleansers, toners and specialty treatments that are meant to be used together for best results. The list of available products is a long one indeed, with many products providing seemingly similar results, which can make it confusing for consumers to choose the best formula for their needs.
We found the Agera website to be difficult to navigate with little information provided about the individual products. We believe that companies that provide important information like complete ingredient lists, customer testimonials and a money back guarantee policy to show confidence in their products and allow customers to shop with that same confidence. We are disappointed that we didn't find any of this information on the Agera website. However, we will take a closer look at one of the Agera anti-aging products to see if we can get enough information to accurately assess its effectiveness.
Product Details
The Agera Intensive Peptide Serum claims to help stimulate the production of collagen, diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, repair sun damage and firm the skin. Unfortunately, we could not find a complete ingredient list for this product. We did find that the formula includes a high dose of vitamin C and a lipopeptide known as Prolifersyn. According to one website that sells this product, it is this lipopeptide that stimulates the production of collagen, for plumper, firmer, younger-looking skin.
While these ingredients may be able to improve the appearance of the skin to some degree, we are not convinced that these substances are the most effective in fighting the effects of the aging process. We prefer to see proven ingredients like matrixyl for stimulating the production of collagen and argireline, which has been proven in clinical studies to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by up to 30%. Other effective ingredients include hyaluronic acid and soluble collagen. We don't have reason to believe that any of these ingredients are included in the Agera Intensive Peptide Serum.
The Good
- The Agera skin care line includes many products designed for anti-aging.
- The products are available for sale through online retailers.
The Bad
- The Agera website is difficult to navigate and provides little information about the products.
- There does not appear to be a money back guarantee.
- We could not find customer testimonials on the products.
- It does not seem that proven anti-aging ingredients are included in the formula.
The Bottom Line
The Agera line provides many options for consumers in their choices for skin care. However, the anti-aging products do not appear to include proven ingredients that can have a positive effect in turning back the clock on the skin. We believe that consumers should look for anti-aging products that contain matrixyl, argireline, hyaluronic acid and soluble collagen. The Agera products do not appear to offer these proven substances, making us skeptical of how well they will deliver on their promises.
