Amira Review

Overview

Amira Pharma Inc was started about 4 years ago by a Filipino beautician while working in the Middle East. The word “Amira” means “princess” in Arabic. The founder of Amira has utilized various botanicals and herbs to make several products, which can beautify the skin. The products were initially limited to Asia but now Amira creams and lotions are also available in North America. The most famous of Amira products is the Magic Skin Whitening cream. It is claimed on the site that the cream can lighten darkened discolorations, freckles, brown spots, stretch marks and scars. The cream is also said to be a good moisturizer and in some cases can also be used to remove acne. The manufacturers of the Whitening cream indicate that the product is uniquely designed for darkened areas under the elbows, arms and groin. An added bonus of the Magic Skin Whitening cream is that it also functions as a deodorant and a sunscreen.

Product Details

The majority of Amira products contain the following ingredients: Water, Isopropyl Myristate, Distearyldimmonium Chloride, Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, Cetyl Alcohol, Glycerine, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Rice germ oil, Stearic Acid, Titanium Dioxide, Dimethicone, Propylene Glycol, Mulberry Extract, Polyacrylamide and C13-14 Isoparaffin and Laureth-7, Chamomile Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Methyl paraben, Propyl paraben, Fragrance.

One should note that the majority of these ingredients are synthetic chemicals, which can have a propensity to cause allergies and skin rashes. The alcohol in the formulation can worsen skin dryness and dermatitis, while the paraben preservatives can irritate skin.

The Good

  • The Amira website is pretty comprehensive and self explanatory.
  • Product should function as a good moisturizer.
  • Testimonials from some consumers are available regarding Amira.

The Bad

  • No pricing is available for Amira products.
  • The website does not describe how the cream works as a lightening agent.
  • Product is not available from the website but from dealers.
  • There appears to be a conflict between Amira and another cosmetic company in the Philippines regarding proprietary ownership.
  • Product appears to contain a lot of artificial chemicals, including parabens.
  • No pre and post photos.
  • A lot of claims made without any clinical evidence given8.

The Bottom Line

Amira Inc is a beauty company based in the Philippines. The Amira Magic Whitening cream is only available through some dealers in the USA. The Magic cream has been hyped to treat almost every type of skin disorder and there is little or no evidence to support such claims. The product appears to contain a lot of synthetic chemicals and there is no mention of how the cream lightens the skin. In fact there is no peeling agent in the formulation. The price of the product on some other websites reveals that it is relatively expensive. Certainly paying $ 10 to buy a bar of soap just to rinse your face is expensive, especially when it doesn’t do much. While Amira Magic cream may function as a great moisturizer with a decent skin lightening formula, it certainly doesn’t look like a product that will eliminate your lines, wrinkles, acne or freckles.
