Overview
Babor is a professional cosmetic company and they have set up many locations internationally. Babor’s philosophy, according to their website, is one of naturalness, effectiveness, and individuality.
Babor was founded almost 50 years ago by Dr. Michael Babor. Dr. Babor had patented a facial cleansing oil. In 1962 another doctor-entrepreneur bought Babor and moved the company’s location to Germany. Today, Babor makes a comprehensive line of skin care products geared towards combating aging in the face and around the eyes.
Product Details
The line of skin-care available from Babor ranges from products formulated for sensitive skin to products formulated for mature skin. For our article purposes we are reviewing the line for mature skin. This is the Babor lien where the concentration of active ingredients in the products centers around getting rid of wrinkles and lines.
First there is the cleanser, the HY-L. This is a cleansing oil made with natural ingredients such as sweet almond extract, Chinese date extract, and ginkgo biloba.
Then we move to a Cleansing Scrub, which is formulated for mild peeling. This is an exfoliator than contains grains form ground up peach kernel husks.
Next, Babor tries to address skin refining. Here we have a HSR Lifting Cream. This cream contains wheat, oat proteins, Hyaluronic acid, and vitamin E.
There is also an HSR Eye Cream. This claims to give you an instant eye lift, and is fragrance free.
The Good
- Babor has been around for a long time. This means the company does have staying power in the ever-changing markets of the world.
- The website breaks all the products down by your skin type, making it easier to decide which products might be right for you.
- You can buy all the products through the website.
The Bad
- Babor does not provide a full list of ingredients for their products. They do give you a teaser list of some key ingredients, but do not give you a full itemization.
- While Babor talks about individuality, it doesn’t really tell us why this is important for skin care. We understand that everyone is different, but it’s not explaining anything about their skin care line itself.
- We are not given any scientific studies or clinical research studies to see the science behind the skin care.
The Bottom Line
Babor has all the bells and whistles of sophistication, at lest according to the information they provide the public. But without facts and solid research on the website to back up these claims, we don’t really know if it’s effective or not. There are many anti-aging products out there and if a company isn’t giving the consumer the information they want up front, such as full product ingredients’ lists, they will lose potential customers to a competitor who will.
We felt left with more questions than answers when it came to the key active ingredient Glutathione, which is listed as very important on their website, but it’s not listed in any of the ingredients of the products they were explaining. This is supposed to be their key ingredient for their products…which product was it in?
