Overview
The Bacooba company was founded in 2001 by a team of individuals with ample experience in skin care and cosmetics. The approach that Bacooba takes is a natural one that calls on the potency of herbs and minerals to turn back the hands of time for your skin. The name Bacooba comes from an Ayurvedic herb by the name of Bacopa Monniera, that grows in India. The products that are provided by Bacooba are all anti-aging in nature, with cleansers, serums, creams and masks available.
While the company does list the purpose and demographic for each of the products, it is a concern that there are so many to choose from. We have to ask if each of these products has been designed with the highest level of care and why the company didn't simply focus on a handful of products that they could create really well. It is also puzzling why many of the products seem to have very similar ingredients, although it is a bit hard to tell since the ingredients listed on the Bacooba website are rather vague in nature.
To its credit, Bacooba does provide ample photos of volunteers who have agreed to test half of their faces with the Bacooba skin care line and the other half without. This does make for some rather compelling testimonials as to the effectiveness of the products. The company also lists some of the facts and figures that have resulted from their own research on the ingredients used in the products, although the data here is nearly as vague as the ingredient listings themselves.
Product Details
Antioxidants are included in nearly all of the Bacooba product descriptions, but specific antioxidants are not discussed. This is true of many of the substances, like protein extracts, bio-peptide complex or botanical extracts. The peptide complex is particularly concerning, since not all peptides are created equal in the anti-aging world. While tetrapeptide-11 and acetyl hexapeptide (also known as argireline) have been proven to work effectively in turning back the clock on your skin, other peptides have not. Other anti-aging ingredients are noticeably absent from ingredients lists, like matrixyl 3000, argireline and hyaluronic acid. Since these are the most effective substances to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, it would be desirable for the Bacooba line listed one or two of these as well.
The Good
- The Bacooba website presence is strong and products can be ordered directly from the company.
- Testimonials and research are available in the form of before and after photos.
The Bad
- There are many different products in this line that perform the same basic functions.
- There is no money back guarantee offered by the website.
- Known anti-aging ingredients are conspicuously absent from the listings.
- There doesn’t seem to be a free trial sample of Bacooba available for new users.
The Bottom Line
Bacooba has a good online presence and plenty of compelling photos to back up the claims of their products. However, with most known anti-aging ingredients absent from their products, you may get a bigger bang for your anti-aging buck elsewhere.
