Overview
<,p>Belladerm Rejuvenation Cream is marketed as an alternative to Botox. The product appears to be available in several salons and clinics, but we had a difficult time locating information about it online. Skin care products that do not have an official online presence concern us since this may mean that the manufacturer is not committed to the product.Belladerm Rejuvenation Cream, according to online sources, is based on salicylic and glycolic acids, which are frequently used as chemical peels. This process sloughs off the outer dead layers of skin to stimulate the production of new skin cells and make the skin appear brighter and healthier. This is a very different process than a Botox treatment. During a Botox treatment, botulism toxin is injected sub-dermally around wrinkles and creases in the face to paralyze the facial muscles. Without being able to contract, the skin above the muscles remains smoother. Botox is rated uncomfortable to painful by consumers and the treatments have to be repeated every 2 to 6 months to get continuing results. We will have a closer look at the ingredients in Belladerm Rejuvenation Cream in the next section to see if it might be able to produce similar results without the expense and discomfort of a Botox treatment. Because we were unable to locate an official website for Belladerm Rejuvenation Cream, there is no indication of a money-back guarantee or of any product samples being offered.
Product Details
We were not able to find an official ingredient list for Belladerm Rejuvenation Cream but, according to online sources, the ingredients may include: Glycolic Acid, Kojic Acid, Azelic Acid, Hydroquinone, Licorice Extract, Salicylic Acid, Titanium Oxide and Aluminum Oxide Crystals.
The inclusion of Hydroquinone concerns us. This substance lightens or “bleaches” spots on the skin. It has now been banned in several countries and the FDA has recommended a ban in the US as Hydroquinone is a suspected carcinogen. Those with sensitive skin may wish to be careful with this product as glycolic and salicylic acids can dry out and irritate the skin. We see no other ingredients in the list that could provide Botox®-like results. Two ingredients we always look for in an anti-wrinkle formulation are hyaluronic acid, which hydrates the skin, and Argiriline, which relaxes underlying facial muscles to smooth wrinkles. There is no indication that either ingredient is included in Belladerm Rejuvenation Cream.
The Good
- Includes moisturizers.
The Bad
- Belladerm Rejuvenation Cream may be difficult to locate for purchase.
- Full ingredient list may not be disclosed.
- Contains a suspected carcinogen, hyroquinone.
- May not be suitable for sensitive skin.
- May not contain clinically-proven anti-aging ingredients.
The Bottom Line
While most skin care products at least have one positive thing going for them, this does not appear to be the case with Belladerm Rejuvenation Cream. At best, it does not appear to have ingredients that would carry out the promised results. At worst, it can damage skin and potentially increase the risk of cancer. We recommend that consumers continue their search for an effective anti-wrinkle product.
