Overview
Botopical was the original name of a wrinkle fighting treatment that now goes by the name of Youth Factor. Botopical appears to rely primarily on botanical extracts in its product formula, and claims to smooth skin, while also softening it and restoring a more supple, youthful texture. Botopical is actually an entire skin care system that consists of not one but three products, and each product in this regimen must be used in order to see ideal results. These three products consist of the Botopical Daily Treatment, the Botopical Mult-Treatment and the Botopical Intensive Treatment.
On the official product website, Botopical goes into some detail regarding the line’s proprietary delivery system. These products use “Amino technology” to help their amino acid sequences to penetrate a user’s skin which, the manufacturer claims, will make them much more effective. This product is also claimed to increase circulation and hydration within the user’s skin. On the official website, there is a Botopical endorsement from Carolyn Sapp, a former Miss America in 1992.
Product Detail
So what are the botanical extracts that are found in Botopical? These are: Hesperidin Methyl Chalcone, Macrocyitis Pyrifera, Ceratonia silaqua, Edelweiss extract and Chamomile extract. We are told that the Edelweiss extract has been included as a moisturizer, but little info on the other botanicals has been given. While the other ingredients are not discussed on the Botopical website, we know that Hesperidin Methyl Chalcone is an orange peel derivative found in several rival wrinkle treatments as well, and Macrocyitis Pyrifera is a sea kelp extract primarily used for its antioxidant qualities.
So how do user’s apply the Botopical skin care regimen? Unfortunately, instructions on how to make use of the three products supplied are not very clear on the official website. However, a “Welcome Book” of instructions is mentioned, making us think that users who actually order the product set will be supplied with adequate directions. The Botopical FAQ does mention that the Daily Treatment cream should be used in small quantities, and that “a little goes a long way.”
The Good
- Users can still apply makeup when following the Botopical regimen.
- Official website gives many customer care details.
- No animal testing of products.
The Bad
- Return policy only covers unopened product packages, and users will still be charged a 15% restocking fee as well.
- The three-product regimen could become tedious.
- We assume that there are more than the 5 mentioned botanical ingredients included in these products, but no further ingredient lists are available.
- No full usage instructions.
- We couldn’t find the results of any clinical trials posted on the Botopical site.
The Bottom Line
While we applaud Botopical’s no animal testing policies and their inclusion of all-natural botanical derivatives, we just don’t see enough to justify investing in this three-piece product set. We prefer single-product skin care regimens, and we also look for wrinkle fighters that offer more of a “no questions asked” return policy.
