Cellex C Advanced Serum Review

Updated On:

Overview

Cellex-C Advanced Serum is a part of a long Cellex-C line that uses L-ascorbic acid, or vitamin C, as the base of its product formulas. We will explore the claims made by the company about the benefits of vitamin C to the skin later in this review. The company that manufactures these products has a USA website that provides ample information about the products, including ingredient lists and facts about vitamin C. However, we were unable to find customer testimonials here to back up the claims of the products, nor could we find before and after photos of people who have used Cellex-C. The company does not sell the products directly; however, the preferred distributor listed on the website, glo Skin Care, does provide a 30-day money back guarantee on all Cellex-C products purchased, including the Cellex-C Advanced Serum.

The list of Cellex-C products is a rather long one, which seems confusing to us since the formulas in the products are very much the same. We wonder why a company feels the need to market so many items with identical formulas that can make it confusing for the consumer to know which one to choose. The Cellex-C advanced line offers six different products that include a serum, eye gel, skin tightening cream, neck firming cream, eye firming cream and toning mask. The products are rather expensive, with a one-ounce size of the Cellex-C Advanced Serum running about $127 at the time of this review.

Product Details

The ingredients listed for the Cellex-C Advanced Serum are L-Ascorbic acid, acetyl tyrosine, zinc sulphate, glycine, resveratrol, grape seed extract, L-ergothioneine, sodium hyaluronate and green tea extract. The concentration of vitamin C in this formula is listed at 17.5%, and uses a combination of free form and hydrolyzed ascorbic acid for the greatest benefit and results.

Studies have shown that L-ascorbic acid can have a positive effect on the skin, including reducing the appearance of wrinkles. However, this substance is rarely as potent as it should be in topical skin care products. Either the concentration is too low or the vitamin C is oxidized before it touches your skin, rendering it less effective. In the case of Cellex-C Advanced Serum, the concentration is high and the company claims that the vitamin C is used in its most effective state. We are also happy to see sodium hyaluronate in the Cellex-C Advanced Serum, since this effective skin hydrator can help the skin hold in moisture and retain its smooth, soft surface.

The Good

  • Cellex-C Advanced Serum contains enough L-ascorbic acid to have a positive effect.
  • The product also includes sodium hyaluronate.
  • The main distributor of the Cellex-C Advanced Serum offers a money back guarantee.

The Bad

  • We were unable to find customer testimonials or before and after photos.
  • The Cellex-C Advanced Serum product is very expensive.
  • L-ascorbic acid may not be the most potent anti-wrinkle ingredient.
  • Other proven anti-wrinkle ingredients like matrixyl and argireline are absent from the formula.

The Bottom Line

Cellex-C Advanced Serum may give users some positive benefits with such a high concentration of vitamin C in the mix. However, for the high price tag, we would prefer to see proven, sophisticated ingredients like argireline and matrixyl included as well.
