On this website critics examine a number of popular health and beauty products available on the market today. The information presented on the site about each of the products assessed has been obtained from publicly available sources. Those critics and this web site are sponsored by Rauscher | Bekke, manufacturers of Dermapril-SP. The information on this website is intended to inform and educate consumers. OverviewThe Clayton Shagal Company began more than 20 years ago in Montreal after extensive research on collagen formulation at a facility in Germany. The company claims that the collagen they use is the purest form ever extracted for commercial purposes, which is why it can supposedly penetrate the surface of the dermis more effectively than other collagen based substances and products. The company has grown from a single product to multiple skin care lines, addressing all ages and types of skin. While the company states that it only sells its products through professional salons, spas and medical clinics, we were able to find numerous Clayton Shagal products through online retailers as well. The website does not provide specific information about its products unless you go through many pages explaining the active ingredients to find out which products contain those ingredients. Quite frankly, we found the Clayton Shagal company website to be plenty of flash and very little substance with navigation challenges that made it more difficult to do the research on individual products than we would have liked. We also could not find any information such as complete ingredient lists, prices or a return policy on any of the products offered by this company. Product DetailsWe were also unable to find ingredient lists at the online retailers that offered the Clayton Shagal products for sale. One website claimed that the Collagen Gel Plus would smooth fine lines and wrinkles and aid in the production of collagen. It also stated that the product would even out skin pigmentation and create softer skin. Collagen is the only known ingredient in this formula, and while collagen is an important part of an effective anti-aging product, there are other wrinkle fighting substances that are equally important. We are thinking specifically of matrixyl 3000 and hyaluronic acid that could both enhance the effectiveness of the collagen provided by Clayton Shagal. It does appear that some hyaluronic acid may be present in certain formulas within an active ingredient that the company calls hynoderm. However, the Clayton Shagal products that contain this ingredient are separate from those that contain the collagen, so you do not receive the full benefit of either ingredient. The Good
The Bad
The Bottom LineIt appears that the original concept of the Clayton Shagal skin care was a good one, but the central focus appears to be muddied in flashy marketing and little substance. The price at online retailers is rather high for this line, and we have to believe that the risk for users is high as well unless we see more concrete facts to back the company's claims.
