Overview
The Colorescience line is advertised as a product series that can restore the natural beauty of the skin to make people look younger and healthier. Some of the products include powder sunscreens, mineral foundations, line fillers, eye colors, lip treatments and other types of products. Mainly, this is a makeup and other cosmetics line, which unfortunately may not lend itself well to actually restoring the health of the skin. More likely, it will cover up wrinkles and skin flaws to make skin look more healthy. One particular product, the Colorscience Line Tamer Skin Brightener, claims to serve as a non-surgical method of increasing the attractiveness of the skin with a blend of special ingredients and minerals.
Product Details
The Colorescience line possibly acts as a temporary solution to the problem of anti-ageing, but most people would likely want something that's a more permanent solution, to prevent further ageing from occurring as much as possible and to help with wrinkles that have already formed. One of the key ingredients in any anti-ageing formula must include collagen stimulants of some sort. Collagen is the substance produced by the body to give the skin its young and healthy appearance by keeping it supple. The natural levels of collagen in the skin decrease with age, so products exist to increase or restore it. A product that may generate more natural collagen can possibly prevent the formation of new wrinkles or even erase older ones. However, the Colorescience line doesn't seem to have anything like this in its products and, as said above, it’s primarily a concealer.
The Good
- According to the website, the ingredients used in the Colorescience line are simple, and almost completely natural. This can be quite appealing for people who prefer all-natural ingredients.
- The website has much of the data needed to understand and make an informed decision about whether to use this product. From what we could tell, it seems to be relatively reasonably priced too. This is subjective, depending on whether it works.
The Bad
- We saw no refund policy, which can be inconvenient if the product you buy doesn’t work on your skin.
- The ingredients may have some anti-ageing benefits, but they aren't specifically meant for this, which is obvious given the lack of ingredients like hyaluronic acid or other types of collagen stimulants.
- There are no user testimonials, which makes it hard to judge how well this product may have performed on people with similar skin types. When advertising any form of skin product or other cosmetic, it's best to have some form of user testimonials to gauge a common experience.
- This is primarily a makeup product, not a wrinkle treatment.
The Bottom Line
Although it's possible that this product has some standard makeup benefits and a non-synthetic formula, we feel that the lack of certain key ingredients found in many anti-ageing products takes away from Colorescience's credibility in the anti-ageing department. There are plenty of products on the market that offer similar things, but it's necessary to fully examine each of their abilities and components.
