Overview

Darphin was created in 1958 by Pierre Darphin. From Pierre’s point of view, outer beauty is always a reflection of what’s going on inside. He launched one of the first all-body spas in Paris to offer a full service spa experience during a time when that wasn’t a common practice.

During that time Darphin consulted with many different people in their varying fields of expertise. These ranged from estheticians to massage therapists. He required all of his clientele visiting his beauty institute have an extensive interview process in which he examined lifestyle choices and the state of their skin and hair. He would then recommend different products based on his findings. This relationship is the basis of how the company operates today. There approach is one of individuality. Darphin believes that each person’s body is different and their lifestyle needs are different as well.

The skin care category has the most products in it. Some of the best sellers include:

Predermine Replenishing Anti-Wrinkle Cream—this 1.7 oz. Container of cream boasts some specialized ingredients such as Aloe, Iris, Horsetail, Vitamin E, and Centella Asiatica.

Intral Cleansing Milk—this 6 oz. Container boasts Aloe as well blending with Chamomile, Hawthorne and Polysaccharide.

The body care system consists of Bath and Shower Gel, Bath and Body Oil, and Lotion. There are 3 different systems: Aromatic, Engergizing, and Relaxing.

The hair care system has 3 different shampoos, 1 conditioner, and a crème mask for your hair that has olive oil and shea butter extracts, along with lemon and other essential oils.

The Sun care system comes complete with 1 SPF 30 complex and a self-tanner for your face and body.

The Good

• The company is well established. Darphin has been around for over 40 years.
• The products are plentiful and you are given choices for your skin type.
• The website is easy to navigate and there are ways to determine which products are best for you.

The Bad

• These products are very expensive. For less than 2 oz. of Anti-wrinkle cream you are paying $175.00. The shower gel is $50.00.
• There is no place on the website to view a full list of ingredients.
• You must create an online account and disclose your email address in order to receive any of the products.

The Bottom Line

Darphin is a well-known and long established company. They are international and very product orientated. The products, however, are very expensive, which can leave you feeling empty if the product itself doesn’t deliver. Scanning the website, there was no immediate evidence that they offered a money-back guarantee. Many of the ingredients such as Aloe and Vitamins E and C are all well known to be beneficial for your skin and seem to be in many of their crèmes and cleansers. However, they are also present in many more affordable skin care treatments in the crowded skin care market. If you are looking for a very specialized serum or crème, Darphin seems like a good place to start. If you cringe at the idea of spending so much just treat a small problem area, you may find yourself looking elsewhere.
