Overview
The anti-wrinkle cream Deception is one of several products on offer from Dremu skin care labs. Like Dremu's other products, Deception makes heavy use of Emu oil. Deception also incorporates light-refracting microprisms into the heavy cream. These prisms are designed to fill moderate to heavy wrinkles and eliminate the shadows that these winkles cast by reflecting light. In line with this approach, Dremu markets their Deception cream as part serious concealer/ part skin nourishment and their philosophy towards wrinkles is best summed up in a line from their website, "If nobody sees them anymore, is that cheating?" If you're considering Deception as a primary wrinkle solution, ask yourself if you're OK with concealing wrinkles or if you're looking for a more thorough solution.
In terms of use, the official Dremu website treats Deception more like a makeup than a skin care regimen, instructing users to apply it to wrinkle areas to see them disappear. Presumably, after the cream washes off you will need to reapply it to maintain your results. This is a marked contract to other products on the market, that advise a course of applications in order to see long-lasting results.
Product Details
All of the products from Dremu, including the Deception wrinkle cream, make heavy use of Emu oil. This active ingredient is derived from a large, flightless Australian birds that closely resemble an ostrich and has been used by Aboriginal tribes to treat burns and other wounds for over 1,000 years. Using a proprietary method, Dremu triple-refines the Emu oil that goes into all of their products, supposedly making it more potent. As an ingredient, Emu oil has been found to contain several essential fatty acids, including Omega 6 and Omega 3. There are many claims regarding the health properties of Emu oil, including that it acts as an anti-inflammatory agent and that it stimulates collagen growth. It is also a source of free radical fighting antioxidants like Vitamin A and Vitamin E. Because it is an animal based product, Dremu's production facilities have been FDA approved.
The other ingredients that make up Deception anti-wrinkle cream are: Emu oil and light refracting microprisms, Deinonized Water, Acrylate Copolymer and Glycerin, Hydrogenated Polybutane, Dimethicone, Polysorbate 60, Petrolatum, Sorbitol, Cetyl alcohol, Sorbitan Stearate, Neopemtyl, Glycol Diheptanoate, Isocecyl Neopentanoate, Stearyl alcohol, Diazolidinyl urea, Methylparaben, Propylparaben
The Good

- Depending on what promotion is on offer, purchasing Deception from the company website will probably score you a free gift.
The Bad

- Product may not be easy to find in malls or other retail centers.
- Product conceals wrinkles, rather than eliminating them.
The Bottom Line
Given the long history of its active ingredient, Deception offers a novel approach to fighting wrinkles. However, the benefits offered by the Emu oil in the formula could be overshadowed by the cream's heavy consistency, which is necessary to support the reflective microprisms. This might be a good alternative or addition to your arsenal of everyday or special-use concealers, but it probably won't give you a long-term healthy skin solution.
