Overview
Dermitage is a product that claims to reverse some of the visible signs of aging in just 10 minutes. This claim sounds fairly dramatic to us. The product includes the common ingredients Hyaluronic Acid and anti-oxidants, as well as an unusual ingredient that the manufacturers have named "lifting spheres" about which little is revealed. Dermitage offers a free trial of the product and if you decide to keep it, it's $69.95/month, plus Shipping & Handling. Dermitage appears to be advertising heavily via banner ads on various high-profile Websites, but to have little actual retail presence.
One of the aspects Dermitage focuses on is collagen production. Collagen is a natural protein that your skin produces to keep itself firm, hydrated and smooth. As you get older, natural collagen production slows. Many wrinkle fighters today try to boost collagen product in some way. Dermitage is a two-step skin treatment process. The first step is a lifting cream, and the second step is a skin renewal cream. No one has invented a cream yet that will permanently negate the effects of aging and skin damage after one cycle of treatment -- even spa treatments like Botox and collagen injections need to be performed monthly to keep skin looking young -- so Dermitage's claims of 10-minute results (and especially the "simulated imagery" on the homepage) appear a bit aggressive.
Product Details
The operating principle that Dermitage's two-step process works on is that the Instant Lifting Cream that makes up step one penetrates the skin. After that, lifting spheres are claimed to push up on your skin, evening out lines and wrinkles and recreating the firm appearance of young skin. The formula's active ingredients also claim to stimulate collagen production beneath your skin in order to prolong the treatment's effects.
In addition to these active ingredients, Dermitage is made with natural oils. All ingredients are claimed to be compatible with sun screens, acne treatments and makeup, meaning you can use Dermitage in conjunction with other products.
The Good
- Official website offers free trial period.
- Can be used with other skin care products, lotions and sun screens.
The Bad
- When you type in "Dermitage" on Google, a number of sites in the organic results area have not-so-great things to say about Dermitage.
- The "Simulated Imagery" on the homepage might be a bit overboard.
- Seems to be only available through official website.
- Claims of instant visible results might be a bit aggressive, especially when you look at their "Simulated Imagery" on the homepage.
- Using Dermitage is a two-step process, which requires the purchase of two separate products, compared to products that make similar claims and that require only one step.
The Bottom Line
Dermitage set out to create a viable alternative to in-spa collagen injections, but some sites that come up on Google when you type in "Dermitage" claim the company isn't great at taking care of some customers. The product contains some good ingredients, but also contains some strange ingredients that we've never heard of and about which little is disclosed. Additionally, simulated imagery on the homepage seems a bit gimmicky to us and chips away a bit at the credibility of their "instant-results" claim. We'd probably choose to try a wrinkle fighter that's more straightforward about its active ingredients and that requires only one step for application.
