DISTINCTION Daily Skincare Review

Updated On:

Overview

DISTINCTION Daily Skincare is a grouping of products sold by Leigh Valentine. Valentine appears with the DISTINCTION line of products regularly on QVC. The DISTINCTION Daily Skincare set is touted by the company as a 6-piece Anti-Aging Breakthrough System.

The set consists of Firm Essentials Cleanser, Botanical Toner, Firmalift, Skin Renewal Booster, Refirming Eye Cream, and Rejuvenating Night Cream. The company lists the main active ingredient in the Firmalift and the Refirming Eye Cream as a proprietary ingredient called elastisome, which appears to be a form of Butylene Glycol, an ingredient found in many anti-wrinkle products. The DISTINCTION website does provide details of a clinical study supporting the effectiveness of elastisome. Another active ingredient in some of the DISTINCTION Daily Skincare products is Argiriline, a hexapeptide that is showing great promise when it comes to providing anti-wrinkle effects. The website lists the concentration of Argiriline used as 5%.

All of the DISTINCTION products including the DISTINCTION Daily Skincare set are available for purchase on the company’s website. The company also offers a club price of 33% off if you join. Joining allows you to receive regular shipments of the DISTINCTION Daily Skincare set monthly. There does not appear to be a money-back guarantee offered, nor are product samples or trial sizes available.

Product Details

The two main active ingredients in the DISTINCTION Daily Skincare line are the patented elastisome, a proprietary form of Butylene Glycol, and Argiriline, a hexapeptide. Butlylene Glycol is a common ingredient in skin care formulations and this does not provide anything new. However, the inclusion of Argiriline deserves a second look. Peptides, like Argiriline, have been clinically proven to have an effect on wrinkles and to assist the body in increasing collagen production.

The DISTINCTION products all have a full ingredient list available and the other ingredients that stand out, although in less of a good way, are parabens. These are cosmetic preservatives that are known allergens. Many higher-quality skin care products do not include the cheaper parabens in their formulations. Those with allergies or skin sensitivities should read the ingredient lists carefully to determine if the DISTINCTION products are appropriate for them. There do not appear to be samples of the product available to allow users to test them out before investing in the whole kit.

The Good

  • Products can be purchased directly from the manufacturer.
  • Some products contain Argiriline, a known effective wrinkle-reducer.
  • Testimonials are available on the company’s website.

The Bad

  • Some products contain parabens, known allergens.
  • No money-back guarantee is offered.
  • Samples or trial sizes do not appear to be available.
  • Products include lower-quality “fillers” and preservatives.

The Bottom Line

The DISTINCTION Daily Skincare set represents a convenient grouping of skin care products formulated to work in harmony. However, the low price point (around $50 for the entire set) gives one pause about the quality of the ingredients, even though everyone would like to see a great bargain. The products are not labeled as non-allergenic and in fact contain known allergens so those with skin sensitivities should read the ingredient list carefully before purchasing, as there does not appear to be a way to get your money back if you are allergic or if the product does not meet your expectations. There are several anti-wrinkle products on the market that contain Argiriline and have a money-back offer and you may wish to look for one of those products instead.
