Dysport Review

Updated On:

Overview

Dysport is manufactured by the British Company Ipsen Limited. It was initially developed in the United Kingdom in the early 1990s and was used to treat a number of ophthalmic and neurological problems. It is now used to treat frown lines and wrinkles, and it continues to be used to treat a number of medical conditions. Dysport is approved for use in the United Kingdom and in New Zealand. The official website tells us that Dysport is an injectable protein that is extracted from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. In fact Dysport seems to be another trademarked version of Botox. We are told that Dysport erases frowns and wrinkles and that a small amount of Dysport is injected into the skin and temporarily immobilises the muscles that you use to frown with.

Product Details

The official website for Dysport tells us that side effects may include drooping of the eyes, as well as soreness and bruising. We are told that it is not a treatment that is suitable for anyone who has a neuromuscular disorder. We believe that anyone who has a prior medical condition should seek their physician’s advice before undergoing a treatment of Dysport. Of course, as is the case with Botox, Dysport is not a permanent solution to lines and wrinkles. The effect will only last a few months and you will then need to return for another injection.

Obviously, Dysport injections should only be administered by licensed professionals. Some people believe that anti-aging treatments performed with injections of Botox or Dysport leads to an expressionless face with a blank look. There are now some powerful peptide combinations in anti aging creams available that are said to be good alternatives to treatments such as Dysport and Botox, such as Matrixyl 3000. These topical peptide creams are also good alternatives for anyone who doesn’t like injections.

The Good

  • There is an official website for Dysport.
  • It does seem to immobilise frown lines and wrinkles.
  • It is thought by some doctors to be an effective anti-aging treatment.

The Bad

  • Side effects can include droopy eyelids, bruising and soreness.
  • It is not suitable for those who do not like needles.
  • Dysport is not a long-term solution to frown lines and wrinkles.
  • Dysport is not suitable for anyone suffering from any kind of neuromuscular disease.

The Bottom Line

Anyone who has any kind of prior medical condition should seek the advice of their family physician before undergoing a treatment of Dysport. Even if you have the approval of your physician you should remember that there can be a number of side effects related to the use of Dysport. In the United States the FDA have warned that there have been several deaths that may be related to the use of Botox for medical purposes. Dysport is, of course, very similar to Botox. You may want to try a topical anti-aging cream that contains Matryixl 3000 as an alternative to a Dysport treatment.
