Overview
Elhibin is a patented skin care treatment developed by Centerchem, Inc. Centerchem makes a number of chemical applications for the food, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical markets. Elhibin is a patented ingredient derived from soy protein, an ingredient occasionally found in skin care formulations. Elhibin claims to inhibit skin enzymes and to minimize the damage to skin by their unscheduled release. The website does not go on to explain what that means. It also claims to have been clinically-proven to have a soothing benefit to skin and to improve skin’s firmness with continued use. The product descriptions on the website are clearly not directed at the buying public because the scientific terms are used frequently and not well explained. Elhibin appears to block the breakdown of elastin, thereby keeping the skin firm and tight.
Elhibin is found in Centerchem’s Protecting Day Cream. The website not only provides the ingredients of this product but the formulation instructions, although it is unclear of what practical use that might be. The Protecting Day Cream cannot be purchased on the Centerchem website and we were unable to locate a source of this product at the current time.
Product Details
The Elhibin Protecting Day Cream contains a 2% concentration of Elhibin, which is puzzling because the Elhibin spec sheet on the same website recommends that this ingredient be used in a 3-7% concentration. Elhibin appears to be the only active ingredient in the product, which is disappointing because the most effective anti-wrinkle formulations include the peptides Matrixyl 3000 or Argiriline. These ingredients have been clinically-proven to help regenerate collagen and reduce lines and wrinkles. We were unable to find any clinical evidence that soy protein, such as Elhibin, is effective in this capacity. The Centerchem website makes reference to clinical studies but does not provide enough information to be able to assess the validity or conclusions of these studies.

The Bottom Line
Soy protein may have an effect on wrinkles or skin elasticity but there is not enough information provided by the Elhibin company to be able to assess that. There are products on the market that have proven ingredients, stand behind their products with a money-back guarantee, and are easy to purchase directly from the manufacturer. You may wish to investigate several of these products before trying to find a source for Elhibin. The best products will contain collagen or proven, potent peptides such as Matrixyl 3000 or Argiriline.
