Overview
Elizabeth Arden is a well known name in the beauty industry, providing skin care, cosmetics and fragrance to women of all ages and preferences. There are numerous lines in the Elizabeth Arden skin care category, but we will look specifically at two that claim to have anti-aging properties; Ceramide and Prevage. Elizabeth Arden skin care’s Prevage claims to be a "revolutionary anti-aging treatment for the face and eyes". Ceramide states it has "ultra luxurious formulas" and "advanced anti-aging technology" for "breakthrough results". Both products claim to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and crow's feet for a more youthful look.
The Elizabeth Arden skin care products are sold on the company website, through online retailers and in stores. This company often offers special deals with purchases, such as a free gift with your order. We were unable to find any customer testimonials for these products, nor could we locate information about any sort of money back guarantee. The products are fairly expensive for the amount of product that you receive, making a free sample or money back guarantee extremely helpful in lowering your risk of purchasing an item and finding out it doesn't work for you.
Product Details
We were disappointed to find that such a professional looking website would not include complete ingredient lists for the products sold. We believe that this is an indication that the company is marketing products based on the Elizabeth Arden skin care brand name alone rather than on proven formulas that are safe and effective. Without a complete ingredient list available, those prone to allergies and skin irritations will be purchasing at their own risk. It is also difficult to assess whether the products can deliver what they promise when they won't tell you how they do it. The Ceramide products boast a CLX complex that will bolster the skin's own collagen production. We are not certain what this complex consists of, other than ceramides – lipids that will help the skin retain its moisture.
The Prevage line by Elizabeth Arden skin care boasts the ingredient Idebenone, which is a powerful antioxidant. While antioxidants are important in fighting and reversing the damage caused by free radicals, we would prefer to see some proven anti-aging substances like matrixyl 3000 and argireline added to the mix as well. These ingredients are much more effective at actually reducing lines and wrinkles and bringing the skin back to a more youthful appearance.
The Good
- The products come from Elizabeth Arden skin care, a familiar name in the skin care and cosmetics industry.
- You can often get special offers on your purchases.
The Bad
- Complete ingredient lists for Elizabeth Arden skin care products are not easily accessible.
- We were unable to find customer testimonials on the products.
- Anti-aging ingredients seem to be sorely lacking in both products.
The Bottom Line
Elizabeth Arden is a familiar name that many women will flock to for their skin care needs. However, with a high price tag and a lack of proven anti-aging ingredients, we believe consumers should look elsewhere when fighting the battle on wrinkles.
