Eterna 27 Review

Updated On:

Overview

The Eterna 27 Cream is a product of Revlon, a large cosmetics company with a reputation for quality, affordable beauty products. Unfortunately, this cream has been discontinued by Revlon, making the supplies of the Eterna 27 Cream somewhat limited. However, in light of the fact that many online retailers are still offering the cream through their websites, we feel it is important to tell consumers the facts about this product.

Eterna 27 Cream is said to be able to restore moisture and elasticity for more youthful looking skin. It also claims to reduce wrinkles and improve the overall surface of the skin. Most online retailers recommend that women continue to use the product daily for at least one month to see positive results. The cream is reasonably priced, selling for around $25 at the time of this review. Since Revlon has discontinued the Eterna 27 Cream, we were unable to find a money back guarantee on the product. However, customer reviews at many of the retail websites were mostly favorable, with many women expressing disappointment in Revlon's decision to discontinue the product.

Product Details

The active ingredient in the Eterna 27 Cream, according to many online retailers, is pregnenolone acetate. While this ingredient has been shown in some studies to temporarily reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, it is far from the most effective substance to do so. We prefer that anti-aging formulas include proven ingredients like matrixyl, argireline, hyaluronic acid and collagen for best results. It is also important to note the Eterna 27 Cream may contain methylparaben, propylparaben and butylparaben. We find these ingredients to be concerning, since parabens have been labeled as possible carcinogens and allergens.

Other ingredients in the Eterna 27 Cream may include: Water, Mineral Oil, Beeswax, Petrolatum, Propylene Glycol, Isopropyl Myristate, Sweet Almond Oil (Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis), Cetyl Esters, Avocado Oil (Persea Gratissima), Sesame Oil Unsaponifiables (Sesamum Indicum), Sorbitan Oleate, Lanolin Wax, Sunflower Seed Oil Glyceride, Lanolin Alcohol, Sorbitan Trioleate, Tocopherol, Niacinamide, Cholesterol, Lanosterol, Cetyl Alcohol, Sodium Borate, Fragrance, Corn Oil (Zea Mays), BHA, BHT. While some of these substances might work sufficiently as moisturizing ingredients, we don't see any that will be particularly effective in the war on wrinkles.

The Good

  • The Eterna 27 Cream is available through multiple online retailers for a reasonable price.
  • There are many positive customer reviews that we found online.

The Bad

  • The Eterna 27 Cream has been discontinued by Revlon, making supplies limited.
  • We did not find any proven anti-aging ingredients in the formula.
  • It may be very difficult to find a money back guarantee on a discontinued product.
  • Some of the ingredients listed may be harmful.

The Bottom Line

While the Eterna 27 Cream may be a decent moisturizer, there is nothing in the formula to suggest that it will do much to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Since the product has been discontinued, supplies will also be somewhat limited, and for this reason we generally stay away from discontinued treatments. We would encourage consumers to look for current products with ingredients that are proven to get results.
