Overview
Hydroleyes (which is also confusingly known as Hydrolyze on the official website) is an under-eye treatment developed by Longevity, LLC. Longevity manufactures many different products including skin care treatments, male sexual enhancement aids, weight loss treatments, mood enhancers, and dog chews. With such a variety of consumer products, it is difficult to imagine that the company can be dedicated to Hydroleyes eye treatments alone.
Hydroleyes is marketed as a product to alleviate dark circles and puffiness under the eyes, as well as smooth and reduce wrinkles around the eyes. According to the company, it does so with two active ingredients: a proprietary ingredient called Haloxyl and Matrixyl 3000, a peptide found in many of the higher-quality anti-wrinkle formulations.
We are pleased to see that the website includes customer testimonials, before and after pictures and references to clinical studies. However, upon closer review, these may not be as convincing. The clinical studies that the company refers to were performed on Haloxyl, the main ingredient, but not apparently on Hydroleyes, the product. That does not give us very much information about the effectiveness of the Hydroleyes formulation. Also, the before and after pictures come with the warning that the models may not be Hydroleyes customers. If they are not Hydroleyes customers, than it appears that the before and after pictures are meaningless. The company provides a money-back guarantee, but when we clicked on the link for details, it is a guarantee for a different product, which is very odd.
Product Details
The two main ingredients listed in Hydroleyes are the patented Haloxyl and Matrixyl 3000. Matrixyl 3000 is a powerful peptide that has been clinically-proven to stimulate collagen production in the skin and reduce wrinkles. We are pleased to see the inclusion of this important ingredient. The company does not provide any details as to what Haloxyl is or what might be included in it. According to the company, Haloxyl has been scientifically proven to reduce and prevent leaked blood under the skin (which leads to dark circles) using a series of natural enzymes.
What is most troubling is that there does not appear to be a full ingredient list provided for Hydroleyes. It is therefore difficult to assess whether the product contains low-quality “fillers” or any allergenic ingredients. Those who have skin allergies and sensitivities may wish to exercise caution in using this product until they are able to review a list of ingredients.
The Good
- Contains Matrixyl 3000.
- Can purchase directly from company website.
The Bad
- Before and after pictures may not reflect real results.
- Money-back guarantee confusing.
- Clinical studies that are referenced may not refer to the Hydroleyes formulation specifically.
The Bottom Line
Hydroleyes is certainly an interesting skin care product at first glance. It is one of the few that contains ingredients to combat dark circles and wrinkles beneath the eyes. We like the inclusion of Matrixyl 3000 in the formulation but have concerns that the company does not disclose its full list of ingredients. That makes us wonder what else might be in the product. Other ingredients important for anti-aging benefits do not appear to be included in Hydroleyes, like collagen and hyaluronic acid. Consumers may wish to purchase separate products for dark circles and wrinkles, rather than trying to find one that does both.
