Overview
Hydron is a skin care product company that manufactures and markets several lines, including Bath & Body, Hair, Color Coverage, Men’s, and Face. The Hydron Face line includes cleansers, toners, moisturizers, serums and masks. With such an array of products, it may prove confusing to the consumer to be forced to figure out the products that are right for them. It is nice to see that Hydron also puts some if its products together into kits to make some of the choices easier.
The Hydron products don’t seem to have any proprietary or particularly exciting ingredients other than Hydron polymer hydrogel, which may be a patented form of hyaluronic acid. However, Hydron is not explained thoroughly on the website. This surprises us since hyaluronic acid and peptides are two of the ingredients that consumers are seeking when looking for an effective anti-aging product. There does not appear to be a money-back guarantee offered when purchasing products from the company website. Also, we were unable to find information about products samples being available.
Product Details
Hydron provides full ingredient listings on its website for all of its facial products. This is a feature that we like to see. It helps those with skin allergies and sensitivities to assess how the product will react with their particular skin type. All of the moisturizers offered by this brand contain the patented Hydron polymer hydrogel, which the company says will help the skin repair itself. If this ingredient does consist of hyaluronic acid and peptides, the moisturizers might be able to do what they claim. Hyaluronic acid can hold 1,000 times its own weight in water and has been clinically-proven to deeply hydrate the skin. Peptides in general can stimulate collagen production and reduce lines and wrinkles. However, there are many different peptides and some, like Matrixyl 3000, work better than others. Unfortunately, there is no information available about what type of peptides are used.
What troubles us in the ingredient list is the inclusion of parabens in many of the Hydron brand’s products, such as methylparaben and propylparaben. Parabens are cosmetic preservatives that are known allergens. Many higher-quality skin care lines will exclude these ingredients because of that. Those with allergies and sensitivities should exercise caution with these products until you have tested them carefully and know that they are not going to cause a reaction.
The Good
- Some products may contain hyaluronic acid and peptides, both promising ingredients.
- Can purchase directly from manufacturer’s website.
The Bad
- Number of products may be confusing to consumers.
- No apparent money-back guarantee.
- Some products contain known allergens.
- May not contain the latest clinically-proven ingredients like Matrixyl 3000.
The Bottom Line
While the Hydron products contain some ingredients that might be effective on wrinkle reduction and skin rejuvenation, it is always concerning when a company markets so many different formulations of the same basic product rather than finding the one best formulation. The best anti-aging formulas contain ingredients like collagen, Matrixyl 3000 or Argiriline, which have been tested and are effective in hydrating and repairing skin. If you choose the Hydron products, keep in mind that if you are not happy for whatever reason or they cause allergic reactions, you may be unable to get your money back.
