IOPE Review

Updated On:

Overview

IOPE is a cosmetic skincare line based in Korea, that specifically caters to Asian consumers who desire to lighten their skin and reduce wrinkles. The IOPE skincare lines is made up of of two brands, called Whitegen and Power Lifting. IOPE claims that their products are formulated from state-of-the-art technology and years of research. Most of this manufacturer’s products contain ingredients native to Asia, including bamboo and white birch extracts; very exotic ingredients that will surely appeal to high-end consumers. This brand only markets their products in South Korea, but most of these products can be purchased through other internet sites at prices ranging between $23.00 to $40.00 per product.

IOPE is very tight lipped about what is contained in their products, along with how they develop their products. Skin whitening creams are also highly controversial due to the chemicals that are typically used – meaning that they could be potentially dangerous. IOPE assures consumers this is not the case, however. This review will evaluate how safe IOPE is for consumers.

Product Details

IOPE's skin whitening line mostly contains products directed towards normal and freckled skin. Most of these products contain the same ingredients. These ingredients are surprisingly synthetic (most skin care lines emphasize the use of natural ingredients) and very few natural products could be located. Notably, synthetic ingredients have a higher risk of side effects and irritation, and consumers should be wary of any products containing synthetic ingredients. The only advantage with these synthetic ingredients is that it they are scientifically proven to lighten the skin temporarily, making them pretty effective.

Additionally, the natural ingredients that are added are shown to have little effect on the skin. Ingredients such as bamboo and white birch are packed full of cancer-fighting antioxidants and vitamins, but these are general benefits and these ingredients have not been show to benefit the skin directly. Other ingredients only provide fragrance and smoothness to the product, and although it may adequately moisturize the skin, it is not linked to any real skin benefits. It would be more beneficial if IOPE included more natural ingredients, since the only proven benefits with IOPE is a lightening of skin and temporary moisturization. For consumers seeking more creams that reduce signs of aging such as wrinkles or crow’s feet, try to look for more complete products with advanced, proven ingredients.

The Good

  • Many consumers say IOPE does deliver, despite what science says.
  • IOPE is moderately priced.
  • It is one of the few skincare lines that caters to Asian skin types.

The Bad

  • Contains an alarming number of synthetic ingredients.
  • Is only available in Asia -- American consumers will need to purchase it online through third-party websites.
  • The natural ingredients included do not provide immediate skin benefits.
  • Official site is only available in Korean.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for a way to lighten your skin, IOPE has your solution – but these solutions are not always friendly for your face. These types of procedures always should involve the consultation of a doctor or dermatologist, as skin lightening procedures can have disastrous side effects if abused. IOPE is a useful alternative, however, and it’s good to see a line that caters towards Asian skin types.
