Overview
Jason Cosmetics is a line of beauty care products available in many beauty stores and drug stores. Jason Ester-C is the brand’s wrinkle fighting line of products. As the name suggests, Jason Ester-C products include Vitamin C in all of their formulas. Within the Jason Ester-C product line, there is the cleanser, the toner, the lotion and the crème. In the skin care industry, Vitamin C is considered a leading antioxidant, and is known to counter the effects of some free radicals. However, the composition and concentration of the Vitamin C included in any formulation is important, since sometimes it can break down on contact with the air, rendering it ineffective. However, in these cases the product in question can still advertise Vitamin C as included in the formula.
As a line, Jason Cosmetics primarily market themselves as “organic”, and most products seem to focus on including or highlighting natural ingredients. It is also claimed that the ingredients in Jason Ester-C are of the highest quality. Since Vitamin C is obviously the main ingredient in Jason Ester-C products, we hope that they’ve included this ingredient in usable form. In addition to VItmain C, Jason Ester-C includes Beat Hydroxy Acids.
Product Details
To see ideal results using Jason Ester-C, consumers are directed to use the entire skin care regimen of four products. First, the cleanser should be applied to remove dirt and makeup. Next, the Jason Cosmetics Super-C Toner is applied as a simple astringent. Third, the Jason Ester-C lotion is applied as a moisturizer (perhaps to counter the potentially harsh nature of the astringent?) This is the product that claims to boost the body’s collagen production, and if you were to get only one product in the Jason Ester-C line it should probably be this one. Finally, there is the Jason Ester-C Crème, which is directed to be used twice daily and which claims to “soften and protect” the skin.
The Good
- Jason Cosmetics are all available online from the official product website.
- Jason Ester-C claims to make all products in their own, quality controlled manufacturing facility.
The Bad
- Using all four steps of the Jason Ester-C care regimen could become expensive and tedious.
- Vitamin C is a highly unstable active ingredient and a lot of variables go into stabilizing it for a topical formula.
- Jason Ester-C does little to address collagen production.
- There does not seem to be a free trial of the Jason Ester-C line available at this time.
The Bottom Line
This product line seems needlessly complicated to us. It can’t hurt to use some topical vitamin C in your skin care routine, but if you’re going to put in the time, expense and effort demanded by the Jason C-Ester line, you may not be getting the maximum return. Instead, we would recommend a product that focuses heavily on collagen product, since this is an area that has been proven to benefit aging skin.
