Overview
LCP Skin Care was started by a pharmacist in Texas in 1984. LCP carries a line of natural and ethical skin care products. The line consists of: Vitamin C Infusion (in 2%, 10% and 20% strengths), Essential Wear Daily Moisturizer, Skin Correction Cream, and Papaya Enzymatic Wash. The Vitamin C Infusion claims to target deep wrinkles better than other anti-aging product. The Essential Wear Daily Moisturizer is said to offer correction and prevention and has an added SPF 45. The LCP Skin Care Skin Correction Cream is a glycolic acid peel that claims to minimize wrinkles, speed cell renewal, fade scars, and brighten the complexion. The Papaya Enzymatic Wash uses a blend of papaya enzymes and salicylic acid to remove dead skin cells and cleanse the pores.
The LCP Skin Care Products can be purchased directly from the LCP website and seem to range in price from $40 to $50. There does not appear to be any product samples or trial sizes offered to allow potential customers to try the products ahead of time. We were also unable to locate a satisfaction guarantee which is something that we like to see with skin care products.
Product Details
There appears to be very little information available on the LCP Skin Care website regarding ingredients. Full ingredient lists are not included which presents two problems for this review. The first is that, without knowing exactly what is in the product, those with skin allergies and sensitivities may not be able to determine if these products are appropriate for them. For example, many department store skin care products contain parabens, cosmetic preservatives that are also known allergens. It is unknown whether parabens are part of the LCP Skin Care formulations. The second problem is that we are not able to assess whether the LCP products contain low-quality “fillers” or how concentrated and effective the active ingredients are.
We do know that the LCP Skin Care Vitamin C Infusion is based on that particular vitamin. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, but it can also be unstable in solution form. The company explains that they have fortified it with stabilizers, which may mean that the Vitamin C is more effective than it is in many other skin care products. However, although Vitamin C definitely has a place in an anti-aging regimen, the claims that it reduces wrinkles appear to be rather overstated. We feel that the best anti-wrinkle formulations on the market today contain clinically-proven ingredients like collagen, Matrixyl 3000 and Argiriline. There is no indication that these ingredients are included in the LCP Skin Care products.
The Good
- Some products contain an effective antioxidant.
- Available for purchase on the company website.
The Bad
- May not contain effective anti-wrinkle ingredients.
- No money-back guarantee apparent.
- No full ingredient list available.
The Bottom Line
The LCP Skin Care line contains natural sources of some vitamins and enzymes which may have a beneficial effect on aging skin. However, with the thousands of anti-wrinkle skin care products on the market, it is difficult to recommend one that does not provide a listing of what is in it. If you are seeking an anti-wrinkle formulation, we recommend one that includes clinically-proven ingredients and whose company stands behind its products with a money-back guarantee.
