LIERAC Intensive Lifting

Updated On:

Overview

Lierac Paris is a skin care manufacturer that carries a full line of products for problem skin, including a selection of anti-aging creams and serums. The Lierac Coherence Intensive Lifting Neck Firmer is one of the main products in the line. According to Lierac’s website, the Neck Firmer gives extra support to the throat and decollate areas.

Customers cannot purchase Lierac products from the website but they are widely available through online retailers. At a retail cost of around $70, the Lierac Intensive Lifting Neck Firmer is on the expensive end of the skin care spectrum. A full list of ingredients is not provided on the Lierac website but is presented on several online retailers’ sites. There is no evidence of a satisfaction guarantee which is something we look for in a quality skin care product. There also do not appear to be product samples available for customers to try the product out. This can make it difficult for consumers to evaluate whether the product will work for them prior to investing in a whole jar.

Product Details

According to information on the online retailers’ websites, the Lierac Intensive Lifting Neck Firmer contains around three dozen ingredients. Consumers may think that the more ingredients that are in the formulation, the more likely it is to be effective. This tends not to be the case with skin care products. If the active ingredients are clinically-proven to do the job, then the product doesn’t need to be stuffed with “fillers”. The main active ingredient in the Lierac Neck Firmer appears to be linoleic acid which is an omega-6 fatty acid. Linoleic acid is found naturally in cell membranes. Research is pointing towards linoleic acid as having beneficial effects on the skin as an anti-inflammatory, hydrator, and an acne reliever. However, we could not find any research to indicate its usefulness in firming skin, especially on the neck.

There are several ingredients in the Lierac Neck Firmer that trouble us. Methylparaben, propylparaben, ethylparaben, butylparaben, and isobutylparaben are all cosmetic preservatives that are also known allergens. Many higher-end skin care products exclude parabens for this reason. Another ingredient is simply labeled “fragrance” which could mean that it is chemically-derived and could also trigger skin allergies. Those who do have allergies should review the ingredient list with their doctor or dermatologist before using this product.

The Good

  • Contains linoleic acid.
  • Easily purchased from online retailers.

The Bad

  • Does not contain known skin-firming ingredients like collagen and Matrixyl 3000.
  • Cannot purchase directly from manufacturer.
  • No money-back guarantee available.
  • Contains known allergens.

The Bottom Line

There are hundreds of skin care products on the market today that claim to firm aging skin. It is very difficult to recommend a product such as Lierac Intensive Lifting Neck Firmer when it does not contain state-of-the-art firming ingredients and it does contain known allergens. If you are seeking a skin care product that is effective at tightening and replenishing mature skin, look for ones that contain collagen to replace what the skin loses every day, and a peptide like Matrixyl 3000 that penetrates skin and reduces lines and wrinkles while tightening the skin matrix. Keep in mind that if you purchase this product and you are not happy with it, you may not be able to get your money back.
