Linda Sy Review

Overview

Linda Sy Skin Care products are formulated by a dermatologist and sold on the company’s website and also through select dermatologists across the U.S. According to the website, Linda Sy products are “non-acnegenic, hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, paba-free, low in irritancy and cruelty-free”. The Linda Sy line consists of cleansers, moisturizers, makeup, treatments, sunscreens, anti-aging products, acne products, rosacea treatments, brown spot products and dry skin products. With such an extensive product line, the consumer is left wondering how the company can focus on the effectiveness of any one product in the line.

The Linda Sy products are available for purchase through the company’s website. The site includes full ingredient listings for all products which we like to see. It also includes some customer testimonials but no before and after pictures. There is a 30-day money-back guarantee on all of the products and Linda Sy sells trial sizes of its products, but no free samples. One thing about the Linda Sy website that disappoints us is that there is no reference to clinical studies supporting the effectiveness of the ingredients or the products themselves. Clinical trials are important for skin care products that claim to clear up skin conditions and to have anti-aging properties.

Product Details

While we like the fact that full ingredient lists are provided on the Linda Sy website, some of those actual ingredients concern us. Many of the formulations are based on vitamins such as A, C, and E. These vitamins are commonly found in skin care preparations and may or may not be effective depending on the exact formulation. Vitamin A (as retinol) does have research behind it to show its restorative effects on the body, including the skin. Most of this research, however, is based on Vitamin E taken orally, not applied topically. The effectiveness of Vitamin E applied to the face is still in question. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant but it is unstable in solutions unless it is encapsulated until use. There is no indication that this technology is being used here which might make the Vitamin C ineffective.

Other ingredients contained in many of the Linda Sy products are parabens, such as methylparaben and propylparaben. Parabens are cosmetic preservatives and they are also known allergens, which confuses us since the Linda Sy products are labeled as hypoallergenic. Many higher-quality skin care products exclude parabens because of their allergenic properties. Some of the Linda Sy products also contain synthetic colorings, like FD&C Yellow 5, Red 40 and Blue 1. These ingredients can also trigger allergies. Those with known skin allergies or sensitivities may wish to review the ingredient lists with their doctor or dermatologist before trying these products.

The Good

  • May contain some ingredients that have a beneficial effect on the skin.
  • Can purchase directly from the website.
  • Competitively priced.

The Bad

  • Contains parabens.
  • Some products contain synthetic colorings.
  • No link to clinical studies supporting the products’ effectiveness.
  • May not contain effective ingredients like collagen.

The Bottom Line

The Linda Sy product line may be effective for some consumers at cleansing and moisturizing the skin. There is nothing in the Linda Sy product ingredients to lead us to believe that the line is much different than the hundreds of wrinkle fighting competitors currently on the market. We do like the company’s policies with respect to a money-back guarantee. This means that if you are unhappy with your purchase, you may not be stuck with the products. However, there are many other rejuvenative skin care products available with similar features and more effective ingredients.
