Loreal Line Eraser Review

Updated On:

Overview

Loreal Line Eraser is a type of "rejuvenating" eye serum designed for women between ages 35 and 45, containing Retinol (a form of Vitamin A) and other nutrients that claim to fight problem areas around the eyes. The manufacturers base all of these claims on their key ingredient, Retinol, which their spokesperson states is a strong anti-wrinkle agent. Loreal Line Eraser provides very little information beyond the main ingredient, and other information was gathered from other sites, which included personal testimonials. Other information included is its tingling effect upon application, and the fact that consumers will need to apply the Line Eraser twice daily continuously for any effects. Several testimonials state that it helps moisturize the key areas around the eyes, although there is not a pronounced effect on fine lines and age spots around the eyes.

Despite the discrepancies, however, there are a couple of positives for Loreal Line Eraser -- its price and its availability. Loreal's products are sold worldwide, and all products -- including Loreal Line Eraser – can be easily purchased at a retail store or online. According to several online retailers, this serum is very inexpensive, selling for $7.99 at various outlets. This makes this an ideal choice for tighter budgets, although information is lacking about how Loreal Line Eraser really works. Since retailers do not provide enough information concerning how it affects the eyes, its main ingredient, Retinol, will be examined closely for any anti-wrinkle benefits.

Product Details

Although a full list could not be obtained at Loreal's official site, another retailer listed the Line Eraser ingredients as the following: Water, squalane, glycerin, hydrogenated polyisobutene, cetyl Alchohol, gylceryl stearate, peg 40 stearate, Petrolatum, paraffin, sorbitan tristearate, gylcine Soja(soy bean) oil, retinyl palmitate, isohexadecane, retinol, hydrogenated lecithin, imidazolidinyl urea, methylparaben, propylparaben , F.I.L #B7632/1. This ingredient list reveals Retinol is actually not their main ingredient – in fact, it looks like it is used in small amounts. Squalane, one of their main ingredients, is used extensively in skin creams because of its moisture retention ability, as demonstrated by several studies.

On the other hand, Retinol may still be powerful when used in this form. Retinol is better known as a different form of Vitamin A, believed to have better solubility within skin cells. Some studies say it helps the production of collagen in cells, although further studies do not conclude it helps lessen the appearance of wrinkles. Of course Retinol needs to be used in specific concentrations to have this effect, and having small concentrations of it may not be enough.

The Good

  • Contains Retinol, a form of Vitamin A.
  • Loreal Line Eraser is very inexpensive.

The Bad

  • Retinol is not actually their main ingredient, and contains only a small amount of it.
  • Contains numerous chemicals which may cause an adverse effect on the skin.
  • Studies do not conclude Retinol actually removes the appearance of age spots and wrinkles.

The Bottom Line

Retinol may be the hottest thing in skin care, but the ingredient list for Loreal Line Eraser tells a slightly different tale. Specifically, it seems that the product includes less Retinol than they let on. While the Loreal Line Eraser may provide some general results, its anti-wrinkle results are not known, and consumers will need to try it for themselves to know the true results.
