Overview
Pentaxyl claims to offer many benefits to the user, including diminishing the look of fine lines and wrinkles and reducing the appearance of stretch marks. This cosmeceutical is also said to be effective in improving skin hydration, firmness, texture and skin discoloration. Some users have reported seeing improvement in acne, burn and chicken pox scars as well. The product is sold through a handful of online retailers, and sells for about $72 at the time of this review.
We were unable to find an official online presence for Pentaxyl that offered much specific information about the product. Most of the data we were able to locate came from online retailers offering the product. We could not find any customer testimonials, research information or policies regarding any sort of money back guarantee on the product. Unfortunately, a lack of information like this leaves the consumer at a distinct disadvantage, since it is difficult to find good evidence of the effectiveness of this product. Instead, we will need to rely on the ingredient list to see if Pentaxyl can deliver what it promises.
Product Details
Pentaxyl states that it contains both acetyl hexapeptide-3, also known as argireline, and palmitoyl pentapeptide-3, which is known by the commercial name of matrixyl. Matrixyl and argireline are both proven anti-wrinkle ingredients that can become even more effective when used in combination. A third peptide, palmitoyl oligopeptide is also found on the ingredient list and is used in many anti-aging products to help reduce the risk of wrinkles. However, matrixyl and argireline are the two most effective substances for this purpose to date.
The rest of the ingredient list is a long one, leading to some concern over whether too many ingredients in the formula might decrease the effectiveness of the product. Many of the other ingredients seem to be included for their hydration and antioxidant properties, which can also be beneficial for skin health. For example, shea butter and sesame oil are excellent moisturizers, while vitamins E, C and A can help prevent damage to the skin that can occur from both internal and external factors. Bearberry and licorice extract are added to brighten the skin and diminish spots of discoloration.
The Good
- Pentaxyl contains both argireline and matrixyl.
- The product also includes many good moisturizers and antioxidants that promote healthy skin.
The Bad
- Online presence for this product is rather sketchy.
- We were unable to find customer testimonials or a money back guarantee policy.
- A long ingredient list may mean less effectiveness overall.
The Bottom Line
While Pentaxyl is a bit on the pricey side, it does contain proven anti-aging ingredients that may bring the user some positive results. However, with little information online about Pentaxyl to research, some consumers may prefer a product with more testimonials and company information to back it up.
