Peptique Review

Updated On:

Overview

Peptique bills itself as a “peptide facelift in a bottle” and that it is the “wrinkle cream that shocked the world”. These are quite heady claims and we will have to look closer at Peptique to see if it can live up to those claims. According to Peptique’s website, scientists at the 20th World Congress of Dermatology (held in 2002 according to a web search) discovered a formulation including a tri-peptide that works almost instantly at eliminating wrinkles. This peptide maximizes and optimizes the natural cell turnover in facial skin.

Peptique is sold on a 30-day free trial basis meaning your credit card will not be processed for 30 day after you receive the product. Peptique retails for $79.95 for a six-month supply but the company currently offers a two-for-one special so customers get a years-worth of Peptique for that price. This extremely low cost gives us pause for concern about the strength and quality of the ingredients. Clinically-proven ingredients do tend to cost more than those found in cheap moisturizers and treatments.

Product Details

For all of the marketing hype on the Peptique website, there is very little actual information about the ingredients in the product. There is an entire page dedicated to clinical studies that looks promising at first but a closer study raises questions. The page states that Peptique “contains peptides from Matrixyl” and “contains peptides from Matrixyl 3000” but it does not actually state that the product contains either Matrixyl or Matrixyl 3000. The clinical studies and before and after pictures relate to testing done on Matrixyl and Matrixyl 3000. There is no indication of clinical testing on Peptique itself, which we find disappointing. The marketing claims lead us to wonder if there is really any substance to this product at all.

If Peptique did include ingredients like Matrixyl 3000, that would make the claims carry more weight. Matrixyl 3000 is an ingredient we look for in advanced anti-wrinkle formulations as it penetrates deeply and stimulates the body’s production of collagen, which depletes as we age. We prefer skin care products that pair Matrixyl 3000 with other peptides like Argiriline, which works to relax the facial muscles that cause wrinkles, and hyaluronic acid which deeply hydrates the skin.

The Good

  • Can purchase directly from the manufacturer.
  • May contain peptides.

The Bad

  • No ingredient list available.
  • May not contain Matrixyl 3000 or other effective ingredients.
  • No clinical trials presented to support the product’s claim.
  • Very low price may make the quality of the ingredients suspect.

The Bottom Line

There are many skin care products on the market today that claim to be breakthroughs in scientific research and claim to be just as good as surgical intervention. However, when we look at many of these products closely, they simply do not have the quality ingredients to back up their claims. We cannot even determine that much with Peptique as the company does not list any of their ingredients. Many consumers feel that it is important to know what is in the products that they are applying to their skin. If you are looking for an anti-wrinkle product with proven results and clinical research to back it up, you may wish to continue your search.
