Overview
Relastin is a product line created by Revance Therapeutics, a biopharmaceutical company that has developed many products in the skin care field. Relastin is their entry into the anti-aging field and there are three different Relastin products available. The Relastin line offers separate Skin Revitalizer, Eye Silk, and Ultra Emollient lines on their official website. Each product works differently, and the website suggests you buy all three of them together to achieve maximum results. There seems to be a buy two get one free promotion available almost always at the time of our writing this.
Each Relastin product claims to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, make your skin feel smoother and firmer, and improve your overall skin texture. The positive effects of Relastin may not occur for up to 4 weeks so this isn't a “quick fix” type of product. Relastin appears to be more of a long-term beauty regimen.
Product Details
Relastin has three separate products. The Skin Revitalizer works over 2-4 weeks to help you achieve smooth skin, and it makes use of a blend of peptides, combined with something called a “Zinc Firming Complex”, which is supposed to help your body create more elastin.
The Relastin Eye Silk uses the same Zinc Firming Complex as the Skin Revitalizer, along with some peptides, but it was created to target the area around the eyes. This product claims to make crows feet less visible and to help users get rid of puffiness and dark circles as well.
The Relastin Ultra Emollient claims to be Revance’s “complete” anti-aging product. This product claims to hydrate, improve elasticity, and soften your skin. Like the other two products, the Ultra Emollient uses a mix of peptides along with the Zinc Firming Complex. All three of these products are meant to be used together if you want the maximum effects but the official website is pretty clear that you may not see a visible difference for 2-4 weeks, even when using the entire skincare regimen.
The Good
- There are third party reviews and testimonials available on the official website.
- Relastin is hypo-allergenic.
The Bad
- Fairly expensive. The Relastin products are between $65-$100 each.
- Ideally, users will buy and maintain a beauty-care regimen using all three Relastin products, which would become time consuming and expensive.
- The list of ingredients on the product description pages seem incomplete.
The Bottom Line
Relastin uses its Zinc Firming Complex as its primary selling point. The official Relastin website does provide information on this complex and what it may be able to do, but it doesn't really have any clinical study data to back it up. There is probably enough information available on the Relastin site to get many people to buy all three products at once. We would probably keep looking to find an anti-wrinkle product that does the job of all three Relastin products in one convenient bottle or tube.
