The range of skin care products known as Replenix is manufactured by Topix pharmaceuticals. The skin products in this range include anti-aging creams, cleansers, exfoliants and serums. The manufacturers say that Replenix skin care products allow people to enjoy the benefits of green tea by applying it directly to their skin. The manufacturers say that these products have been especially formulated with green tea to deliver smoother, younger looking skin. One anti-aging cream in the Replenix range is Replenix Cream CF. This cream, claim the manufacturers, is a lightweight cream composed of 90% Polyphenol derived from green tea and fortified with caffeine USP. The Polyphenol isolates in the product are commonly known as Catechins. According to Topix, they assist to minimize free radical induced skin damage.

We could not find an official website for Replenix products, but they seem to be available for purchase from online stores. Replenix Cream CF is sold for a price of $52.95. The ingredients in Replenix Cream CF include Purified Water, Glyoeryle Stearate, Behenyle Alcohol,Palmiyic Acid, Caffeine UPS, Stearic Acid, Lechitin, Lauryl Alcohol, Maristyl Alcohol,Oetyl Alcohol, 90% Polyphenol Isolate of Camellia Sinesis Leaf, Sodium Hyaluronate, Bisabolol, Cucumis Sativus,Cucumber Extract and Chamomile Extract. The manufacturers focus on Catechins, which are derived from Green tea, as being the main anti-aging ingredient in Replenix CF Cream. Tea drinking is an ancient tradition in India and China dating back thousands of years and tea has long been associated with good health, although all of the benefits have not yet been closely examined by modern science.

Certainly a number of trials have shown that green tea does have antioxidant qualities, but this research has been conducted in test tube cultures and on animals. When the same tests have been conducted on humans the test results have often been contradictory. Also catechins are unstable in solution form and often break down within a few days and lose their potency. This leaves some question marks as to whether commercial creams containing green teas retain their power.

The Bottom Line

There are a number of skin creams on the market today that contain green tea, some of which are in the lower price range. Although Replenix CF Cream is not extraordinarily expensive, if you wanted to try a product containing green tea there are cheaper options available. Trial results regarding the antioxidant qualities of green tea on the skin and especially when applied in the form of a topical cream have shown contradictory results so far. Only time and further long-term trials will tell how significant the benefits of topical green tea actually are for our skin.
