Product Details
It appears that the company has posted what we believe is a complete list of ingredients. Although this effort is appreciated, we will mainly be looking at what we are led to believe are the active ingredients. These ingredients include Retinol, Zinc, Magnesium, and Copper Gluconate.
Retinol is an ingredient that is known to some as Vitamin A. The main purpose of this ingredient is thought to be the way that it is supposed to remove the top layer of what is thought to be dead skin in order to reveal the new layer that is underneath and promoting the healing process, thus stimulating new skin cell growth that may lead to filling in those unsightly wrinkles. Zinc is thought to be a possible wound healer, a mild astringent that can help soothe rashes and other minor skin irritations. But if this is used too much it can lead to an illness that is known as Dermatitis Herpetiformis. This is a burning sensation that is on the skin that may cause blister like patches on isolated parts of the body.
It is believed that the presence of magnesium in this product could be used as a sunblock in this particular product. Although it is not known what the exact function of copper may be in this product, one source does reveal that there is no scientific proof that backs up the theory of this type of copper being used in skin care. It is a theory, but has not yet been proven.
The Good
- Has the potential to be an effective product.
The Bad
- Contains more than one possible irritant.
- Significantly increases sensitivity to the sun.
The Bottom Line
There appears to be a reason for concern here. It is because Retinol is a well known irritant and it cannot be used by most individuals that have some sort of skin allergy or sensitive skin. It can cause some serious side effects on the skin, especially if one is not careful and overuses the product. Also, while using anything with Retinol it is recommended that a good sunblock is used during the use of this product. This may be the reason for magnesium in this product, because it is a natural sunblock. Another reason concern is Zinc. If used properly it can have great healing benefits, but if used too much, it can lead to serious rashes. Before buying this product, one may want to think about the potential side effects and if it would be are worth all the possible aggravation of skin irritations and unsightly rashes.
