Overview
Serutox is a topical serum that claims to relax facial muscles so as to, over time, diminish the depth of facial wrinkles, primarily around the forehead and eye areas. Specifically, Serutox claims to target the glabellar and crows feet areas. Serutox was founded by Dr. Bakaric of Sydney, Australia in December 2002. Serutox is distributed in over twenty-one countries. It is available for purchase on-line. Dr. Bakaric asserts that he is working on bringing this product to both China and the Philippines. Serutox was marketed as the “FIRST Botox alternative” when it launched is 2002. The product offers a three month supply and one is expected to see results in three to six weeks. Unlike Botox which paralyzes the muscle, Serutox claims to relax the muscle over time. Like many similar anti-aging products, Serutox contends that it is a less expensive and complex alternative to needles and surgery.
Product Detail
Serutox’s active ingredient is Argireline of which a less than 10% concentration exists. Seutox boasts that it is one of the first to hold a patent to this ingredient. However, Argireline is an amino acid that inhibits anti-aging activity and it is widely used amongst the anti-aging skin care manufacturing community. Furthermore, the makers of Serutox assert a “quality over quantity” sales pitch while pointing out that the product is comprised of three (3) ingredients. Serutox claims that because the product contains so few ingredients it yields less of a chance for breakouts and negative reactions in sensitive acne prone skin and/or allergic reactions. However, other than the commonly used ingredient of Agireline, the product’s official website offers no mention of the other two mystery ingredients, leaving potential buyers in a quandary over the supposed simplicity of this serum. Lastly, Serutox’s formulation does not appear to have any of the latest ingredients used in many other anti-aging products available on the market.
The Good
- Serutox contains the active ingredient Argireline which is known for its anti-aging effects.
- Serutox is available for purchase on-line.
- Serutox is not invasive.
- Serutox offers a 60-day money back guarantee.
The Bad
- This product does not offer any ingredient that stimulates the production of collagen so as to support skin firmness.
- Serutox’s official website offered testimonials that were on average one sentence in length and vague and ambiguous in nature.
- Serutox’s official website offered no label information.
- Serutox does not have any other combined benefits such as sunscreen, antioxidants or the ability to repair already damaged skin.
- Serutox’s official website does not provide any scientific data or analysis indicating the efficacy of this product. Nor does the website offer any testimonial or endorsement by a dermatologist.
The Bottom Line
Serutox may be an effective serum for relaxing muscles in two very specific facial areas. Further, Serutox is not designed for anyone anticipating rapid results, as it is expected to take as long as six weeks before the cream has a noticeable effect on your face. In addition, Serutox is not effective for people concerned with the correction or prevention of wrinkles around the mouth area or who are looking to correct already damaged skin.
