On this website critics examine a number of popular health and beauty products available on the market today. The information presented on the site about each of the products assessed has been obtained from publicly available sources. OverviewStrata-C is a skin care cream that was developed to assist with the aging process of skin. This product was formulated and created by one Dr. Richard J. Matthews, who is claimed to have an extensive background involving neuropharmacology and drug development. Strata-C was originally created in the 1990’s as a way for all people, men and women, of all skin types to battle common signs of aging such as fine lines, collagen loss, crow’s feet, facial sagging, frown lines and deep wrinkles. This treatment cream is sold in a 2-ounce container for $39.00 online. The “miracle” Strata-C facial cream is intended to be a night treatment that’s applied after cleansing the face. Strata-C supposedly “restores” the face as you sleep. Key active ingredients used in Strata-C are enzyme activator APT, as well as natural plant extracts. Together these unique components supposedly supply significant moisture to the skin and restore elastin levels and collagen. In addition, Dr. Richard J. Matthews emphasizes that Strata-C treatment cream contains valuable and effective antioxidants (Vitamin E and Butylhydroxyanisole), which helps to repair sun damaged skin. Strata-C is intended to be applied with a massaging motion into the face and neck every day for best results. Product DetailsThe night-time facial treatment cream known as Strata-C was developed for all men and women, regardless of skin type or age. This is essentially an anti-aging and moisturizing skin product that aims to assist with wrinkles, sagging, dry skin, fine lines, discoloration, collagen loss and lack of elastin in the skin. Strata-C is supposed to be applied nightly to the face and neck in order to “restore the skin” as you rest. The primary ingredients incorporated into Strata-C are natural plant extracts and the enzyme activator APT. Other ingredients found in Strata-C are as follows; Water, Butylene Glycol, Algae Extract, Glycerin. Sodium Hyaluronate, c-12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Stearyl Alcohol, Cetearth-20, Glyceryl Stearate, Isocetyl Stearate, Avocado Oil, PEG-20, Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate, propylene glycol stearate, beeswax, Sodium PCA, Jojoba Oil, Adenosine Cyclic Monophosphate, DMDM, Hydantoin, Rentinyl, Palmitate, BHA and Propylparaben. The Good
The Bad
The Bottom LineAlthough it’s interesting and somewhat reassuring that Dr. Richard J. Matthews has a background in neuropharmacology, this doesn’t exactly make him knowledgeable in dermatology or an expert on skin care. On a positive note, the Strata-C nighttime cream does offer natural plant ingredients and botanicals to assist the skin, but this is actually fairly routine for many modern skin care treatment products. While Strata-C does not seem overly expensive in comparison to other anti-aging creams and serums, the notion that it contains Butylene Glycol may be a red flag for some consumers.
